Plot

After the destruction of Earth by the enigmatic Gauna, humanity's remnants took refuge aboard the massive generation ship Sidonia. For a century, the crew enjoyed peace, but the Gauna have returned, threatening extinction once more. Tsumugi Shiraui, a human-Gauna hybrid, teams up with ace Guardian pilot Nagate Tanikaze to secure a fleeting victory. A decade later, while Sidonia celebrates its hero, Tsumugi grapples with her feelings for Nagate. With Captain Kobayashi aware that peace is fleeting as long as the Gauna exist, the crew prepares for a decisive battle that will determine humanity's fate.
