Plot

Single mother Mary Jo Walker constantly relocates with her daughter, Ava, whenever their lives hit a rough patch. Fed up with this nomadic lifestyle, Ava finds herself in San Diego, where she lands a starring role in the school play. Meanwhile, truck driver Jack Ranson enters the picture, initially charming Mary Jo with his attentiveness. However, his true nature surfaces as he becomes increasingly domineering. As tensions rise, Mary Jo considers another escape, leaving Ava feeling frustrated and caught between her mother's choices and her own aspirations.
