Plot

Desperate for recognition, Prof Thomas Foolery enters a 1876 contest to create a steam-powered tree-cutting machine, only to realize he has unleashed a disaster. Faced with his father's pleas and the abandonment of his boyfriend, Foolery's world crumbles further when he finds his partner in a ravaged forest, struggling with addiction. A moment of clarity strikes, prompting him to dismantle his creation. In a bid to make amends, he offers to sell his patent for an innovative solar collector, but the railroad's greed leads to the destruction of his designs, prioritizing profit over environmental progress.
