The Soul of Bread (2012)

Plot

Gao-bing toils at a struggling local bakery owned by the rock-obsessed Mr. Chiu, whose apprentice, Di, shows little interest in baking. As business declines, Gao-bing feels helpless, relying solely on hard work to produce more bread. His girlfriend, Ping, who has grown up alongside him, criticizes his adherence to tradition and lack of initiative. Seeking innovation, she enrolls in baking courses in the city, where she encounters the charismatic Bread, an American with a flair for creativity. Despite her commitment to Gao-bing, she is captivated by Bread's enchanting creations, seeing him as a potential savior for the bakery.
