Plot

After the Union's victory over the Confederacy, Major Jeff Clanton travels to Missouri to offer Quantrill's Raiders a chance at redemption by pledging loyalty to the Union, which would eliminate their outlaw status. However, corrupt lawmen Joad and Fowler see profit in keeping the Raiders as fugitives to cash in on their bounties. When they falsely accuse Clanton of murder, he finds himself on the run, ultimately embracing the outlaw life he sought to leave behind. As he navigates this treacherous new path, Clanton must confront both enemies and his own evolving identity.
