Lulu Belle (1948)

Plot

Lulu Belle, a talented singer in a rundown Natchez bar, crosses paths with ambitious lawyer George Davis. Choosing love over ambition, George abandons his fiancée to marry her. As financial struggles arise, Lulu takes a job at a New Orleans club owned by the ruthless gambler Mark Brady. To push George away, she feigns interest in boxer Butch Cooper, but jealousy leads George to assault Butch, landing him in prison. After George's release, Lulu finds success in New York with millionaire Harry Randolph, yet ultimately rejects his proposal, realizing her true love lies with George.
