The Flying Sailor tells the story of the Halifax Explosion of 1917, a catastrophic event triggered by the collision of two ships in Halifax Harbour, resulting in the largest accidental explosion ever recorded. Among the many tragic tales from that day is the extraordinary experience of a sailor who was propelled high into the air from the deck of a British cargo ship. He soared over two kilometers before miraculously landing without a scratch, though he was left completely naked except for his boots.
