Plot

Set in 1575 feudal Japan, Oda Nobunaga (Kippei Shiina) triumphs over Takeda Katsuyori during the Battle of Nagashino, securing a pivotal victory at Nagashino Castle. Following this success, Nobunaga envisions the construction of Azuchi Castle, a grand symbol of unification among the warring factions. Strategically located near water and towering enough to be seen from Kyoto, this castle embodies his ambitions. Directed by Mitsutoshi Tanaka, this adaptation of Kenichi Yamamoto's novel garnered the 33rd Japan Academy Film Prize for its exceptional art direction, showcasing the film's artistic achievements.
