The Animated Costumes (1904)

Plot

In a costume shop that specializes in masquerade outfits, a young student arrives to find the perfect attire for an upcoming masked ball. The shopkeeper presents him with several options, but the student rejects each one for various reasons. Frustrated by the picky customer, the proprietor rummages through a hamper and pulls out a clown's outfit, an acrobat's costume, a musketeer's attire, a dancer's ensemble, and more. To the shopkeeper’s shock, these costumes spring to life, attacking the student and trapping him back in the hamper. After a fierce struggle, he finally escapes, only to grasp at what he thinks are people, only to find himself holding mere scraps, leaving him bewildered.
