Khaila Richards, a single mother struggling with crack addiction, inadvertently leaves her newborn in a dumpster while under the influence. In a twist of fate, the baby is rescued and adopted by compassionate social worker Margaret Lewin and her husband, Charles. Years later, after successfully completing rehab and rebuilding her life, Khaila discovers that her child is alive. Driven by the desire to reclaim her son, she confronts Margaret in a custody battle, forcing both women to confront their pasts and what it truly means to be a mother.
