Plot
John P. Merrick, the reclusive billionaire and owner of Neeley's Department Store, finds himself at the center of a labor crisis. Employees, furious over their working conditions, vent their frustrations by hanging his effigy outside the store, unaware of his true identity. Disturbed by the unrest, Merrick takes matters into his own hands and disguises himself as a sales clerk in the shoe department. His undercover mission aims to understand the workers' grievances firsthand and quell the growing discontent among his employees, setting the stage for unexpected revelations and personal growth.
