The Eremites (2017)

Plot

Albert, a 30-something man raised on a remote Alpine farm, struggles under the influence of his overbearing mother, Marianne. To escape her control, he relocates to a nearby valley to work in a marble quarry, though he often finds himself drawn back to his childhood home. Marianne, intent on shielding him from the harsh realities of mountain life, even renounces their family’s long-held traditions. When tragedy strikes with his father's accidental death, Marianne chooses to conceal the truth from Albert, burying his father on their land to prevent him from assuming the farm’s responsibilities.
