Plot
Marius, nearly 19, feels trapped in Marseille, with his future dictated by his father, a cafe owner. Dreaming of the sea, he prepares for a five-year voyage. The night before his departure, Fanny, his childhood friend, confesses her love for him, prompting Marius to realize his own feelings. Torn between the allure of adventure and a mundane life with Fanny, he faces a difficult decision.
