Maya Deren's poignant exploration of Voudoun rituals and dances in Haiti between 1947 and 1951 offers a rare glimpse into the spiritual and cultural practices of the region. Although Deren never completed the editing of her footage, Teiji Ito and Cherel Ito took on the task posthumously, creating a compelling narrative from her raw material. The result is a vivid and immersive ethnographic study that captures the essence of these living traditions, showcasing the rich tapestry of life and belief in Haiti.
