Plot

During World War II, a group of aspiring actors struggles to make ends meet while sharing an apartment. Norman Reese (William Holden) enforces a no-romance rule among them until they achieve Broadway success. However, secrets simmer beneath the surface, as Marge Benson (Barbara Britton) and Tony Dennison (James Brown) are already secretly married. When a friend visits Dottie Coburn (Martha O'Driscoll) and discovers the living arrangements, she feels compelled to inform Dottie's father (Jay Fassett), complicating the group's already challenging pursuit of dreams in the cutthroat theater world.
