Plot

Set against the backdrop of 1950s England, sailor Harold Guppy searches for his long-lost brother in a quaint coastal town. After a short-lived reunion, he rents a room from Mrs. Beasley, her timid husband, and their daughter, Joyce. Though he appears to seek solace, Harold's checkered past looms large, plunging him into a murky world of desire and manipulation. What initially seems like a fresh start quickly spirals into a sordid entanglement, leading Harold down a path fraught with peril and emotional turmoil.
