Plot

In "Regrouping," filmmaker Borden delves into the complexities within a women’s collective. Through interviews with acquaintances, including Joan Jonas, the group creates ‘artistic’ vignettes, yet Borden senses their avoidance of deeper discussions surrounding sexuality and politics. She questions whether they are genuinely committed or merely friends. After presenting a rough cut to the group, tensions rise, prompting them to retreat. Undaunted, Borden weaves their critiques into a revised version, capturing broader perspectives on the original film and consciousness-raising movements, featuring uncredited insights from notable figures like Barbara Kruger and Kathryn Bigelow.
