Xx: Where Your Heart Should Be (2007)
Plot
In Todd Verow's avant-garde feature divided into 20 vignettes, characters grapple with their fears and desires as they anticipate an undefined apocalypse. Some seek physical, emotional, or sexual escapes, while others embrace the impending end. One woman, Philly, drags her own corpse in search of a final resting place and runs into her former lover, Michael Burke, who has transitioned from female to male. He yearns to flee, while she believes there's freedom in staying put during the world's last moments. Meanwhile, several gay men indulge in increasingly intense sexual experiences, eager to savor life before the impending collapse. Two ex-lovers attempt to reconnect, seeking meaning amid their profound emptiness. As adult film actors push boundaries with darker fantasies, the question looms: will the world conclude quietly or explosively—or, perhaps, not at all?
