Plot

Nina, a 30-year-old Ukrainian language teacher, finds herself trapped in Luhansk, a city under separatist control, where she must adapt to teaching Russian. Amidst this turmoil, she encounters Andrii, a 17-year-old orphan whose act of defiance—hanging a Ukrainian flag at his school—leads to his arrest. Aware of the harsh realities of their occupied life, Nina recognizes that Andrii’s imprisonment could be lengthy. Determined to help him, she risks her safety to secure his release. Together, they strive to inspire hope and remind their community that a brighter future is still possible.
