Plot
Assigned as the assistant priest in the quaint Austrian town of Oberndorf, Joseph Mohr brims with innovative ideas to connect the church with the community. His initiative to form a choir, featuring local outcasts and singing in German, clashes with Father Nostler, who threatens disciplinary action. Tensions escalate when Maria, a tavern regular, unexpectedly joins the choir. As Mohr's efforts unravel, he confronts a crisis of faith. On Christmas Eve, he must choose between surrendering to defeat or embracing the deeper meaning of the Holy Night, ultimately redefining his purpose.
