Plot
Hushpuppy, a spirited six-year-old, lives with her father Wink in 'the Bathtub,' a unique community in the southern Delta. Wink's harsh yet loving guidance equips her for the harsh realities of life, especially as his health declines due to a mysterious illness. As the environment destabilizes—temperatures soar and ice caps melt—prehistoric aurochs emerge, threatening their fragile existence. With rising waters, encroaching beasts, and Wink's deteriorating condition, Hushpuppy embarks on a poignant journey to find her long-lost mother, confronting both the chaos of her world and her own fears along the way.
