Plot

Liu is eager to offload his failing travel agency, but when one of his employees mysteriously falls into a coma, family members converge on him, seeking a settlement. At the same time, Liu’s ex-wife Tao Qing grapples with her indecisive lover and their teenage daughter, while their son Yi Fan, lacking direction in life, befriends a group involved in illegal street racing. Director Wang Qi, making his Busan debut with *The Bargain*, intricately captures the struggles of a fragmented family navigating the tumultuous currents of modern Chinese society and capitalism, enhanced by evocative handheld cinematography.
