Amid the German Occupation in a quaint French town, Wehrmacht captain Werner von Ebrennac takes residence in a home shared by young piano teacher Jeanne and her grandfather. Disturbed by the unwelcome guest, they choose silence as their form of resistance, refusing to engage with him. Despite this, Werner, who cherishes French culture, attempts to bridge the divide, advocating for Franco-German unity. As Jeanne unexpectedly finds herself drawn to him, Werner’s idealism crumbles, revealing the harsh reality of Nazi ambitions to suppress France and its rich heritage.
