Plot
Michel begins dabbling in pickpocketing for fun but is quickly caught and jailed. After his release, he faces the heartbreak of his mother's death. Ignoring the warnings from his closest friend Jacques and their neighbor Jeanne, Michel joins forces with a pair of small-time crooks to hone his skills. While a persistent police inspector closely monitors his activities, Michel attempts to find legitimate work, yet the allure of thievery proves difficult to shake off.
