Isaac Geldhart, a Holocaust survivor, is deeply affected by the recent loss of his wife, leading him to recklessly steer his publishing company toward failure by producing books that are unlikely to sell. His son Aaron, who is also part of the business, becomes increasingly exasperated with Isaac's downward spiral and seeks to take control of the company. This family turmoil draws in Isaac’s other two children, his daughter Sarah and his ailing son Martin, as they navigate the challenges posed by their father's emotional state.
