Plot

Lem Siddons, a member of a traveling band, aspires to become a lawyer but opts for stability in a small town. He takes a job as a stockboy at the local general store and steps up as scoutmaster for the newly established Troop 1. As he immerses himself in guiding the scouts, Lem's legal ambitions fade into the background. Ultimately, he discovers that his true fulfillment lies in nurturing the next generation, finding joy in the camaraderie and growth of the youth in his community.
