Plot

Compulsive gambler Lawrence Bourne III faces the consequences of his reckless lifestyle when his wealthy father declines to pay his debts. Seeking refuge, he joins the Peace Corps and is sent to Thailand, where he teams up with earnest grad Tom Tuttle and the charming Beth Wexler to construct a bridge for the villagers. Unbeknownst to them, this bridge holds the interest of the U.S. Army, a local Communist faction, and a dangerous drug lord. With the aid of At Toon, the sole English-speaking local, they must navigate these threats while discovering their own values and purpose.
