Robert Tucker, an emotionally detached young gay man, spends time in waiting rooms, reflecting on his childhood memories. These recollections transport him back to a year marked by his father's illness and eventual death. At ten or eleven, he endures bullying at his Catholic school, feeling isolated and friendless. His home life offers little solace; his mother is subdued, and his father’s anger looms large. Following his father's passing, the wake unfolds, and the boy grapples with profound grief and loneliness, navigating the painful aftermath of loss.
