Plot
Set against the backdrop of 1941, Pai finds herself shunned by her family after a divorce from her wealthy husband. Mrs. Hsu, a well-meaning matchmaker, offers Pai a lifeline by taking her to Hong Kong under the pretense of hiring her as a nanny. However, Mrs. Hsu's true intention is to connect Pai with Fan. Although they initially connect, Fan’s hesitance to commit strains their budding romance. As the Japanese invasion looms, both Pai and Fan confront their emotions, discovering a deeper bond amidst the chaos.
