On an unusually warm November day, Hiro, a Japanese immigrant in New York City, opts to prepare a live chicken for dinner. While giving his cousin Kei a tour of the city, they stumble upon a medical emergency. Their clumsy attempts to help only exacerbate the situation, leaving Hiro unable to follow through with his plan to kill the chicken. As the day unfolds, Kei witnesses the changes in Hiro's life, especially with his pregnant wife and their impending move to Chinatown, revealing how their lives are intertwined with the pervasive structural violence around them.
