Plot
In 19th century Warsaw, Wokulski grapples with the apathy of the aristocracy, who languish in complacent wealth rather than pursue new ventures. Despite his financial acumen, he faces disdain due to his humble origins and lack of social standing. His secret assistance to the financially struggling father of a beautiful woman, affectionately referred to as "the doll," eventually reveals his feelings for her.
