For over a century, from the late 19th century until 1996, Canada’s First Nations children faced a grim fate as they were forced into government-funded residential schools run by Christian organizations. With 80 institutions across the country, many were taken miles away from their families and ancestral lands, where they suffered physical and emotional abuse while their cultures were systematically erased. “We Were Children” recounts the harrowing true experiences of Glen Anaquod and Lyna Hart, shedding light on this dark chapter of Canadian history through their own poignant narratives.
