Plot

Post-World War II, Dresden faces significant rebuilding challenges. Kalle, eager to revive his former workplace—a cigarette factory—sets off to Wittenberg, the only source of carbide. His journey takes an unexpected turn when he must hitchhike back to Dresden while hauling seven cumbersome barrels of carbide. Despite the daunting task, Kalle's resourcefulness and upbeat spirit turn the arduous trek into a delightful and humorous escapade, filled with unexpected encounters and innovative solutions as he navigates his way back home.
