Plot

Horty, a French factory worker, wins a contest that grants him a trip to witness the Titanic's maiden voyage. In England, he meets Marie, who claims to be a chambermaid in need of a place to stay. They share a room, though nothing intimate occurs. When he wakes, she has vanished, but he spots her at the ship's departure and captures her image. Back home, suspicions arise about his wife Zoe's fidelity with Simeon, the foundry owner. Seeking solace at a bar, Horty begins spinning a steamy tale of his encounter with Marie, captivating patrons night after night.
