18 Meals (2010)
Plot
Food plays a central role in many captivating films, and 18 MEALS is no exception. This anthology film, structured into three segments—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—features interwoven tales that unfold in Santiago de Compostela over nine days. Directed by Jorge Coira, the film boasts a diverse cast, including Edu, an aging street musician, a couple waking up after a one-night fling, a businessman reconnecting with his closeted brother, and Sol, a lonely housewife. Among these characters, Victor and Sol stand out, each concealing their own struggles—his sexuality and her depression. Notably, Pedro Alsono shines as Vladimir, a local celebrity preparing a meal for a mystery woman who never shows up, highlighting the disappointment of unreciprocated efforts.
