Captain Johnno (1988)

Plot

"Captain Johnno" follows a young deaf boy who embraces the persona of "Captain Johnno" as he forms a bond with Tony, an Italian fisherman, in a quaint Australian coastal town. Both feel marginalized, united by their passion for the ocean. When Johnno's cherished sister departs for boarding school, his heartache drives him to escape to a secluded island, prompting concern among the townspeople.
