Plot
Shirley and Cyril navigate the ups and downs of life in London’s working class, facing challenges from Cyril's forgetful mother and her snobbish neighbors, along with the drama of Cyril's sister Valerie and her unfaithful spouse. While Shirley yearns for a baby, Cyril, a Marx reader with lofty ideals, hesitates. A mishap occurs when his mother accidentally locks herself out, forcing her to seek help from the very neighbors she despises. Valerie’s disastrous surprise party for their mother’s 70th birthday adds to the chaos, but amidst the turmoil, Shirley and Cyril contemplate their future together.
