Plot
Set in 1942 Vilna, the chilling narrative unfolds as the Nazis execute 55,000 Jews, confining the remaining 15,000 to a cramped ghetto. Sadistic commander Kittel, just twenty-two, wields absolute power over life and death. When he catches the beautiful Hayyah stealing a kilogram of beans from the German army, he initially condemns her. However, learning of her past as a renowned singer, Kittel revives the old theater to stage performances. Meanwhile, Gens, the Jewish Chief of Police, navigates a treacherous moral landscape, sacrificing some Jews to safeguard the lives of others.
