Plot

Set against the backdrop of the crumbling Moroccan city of Meknès, Abdelkader and Malika navigate their newfound marriage amid economic hardships. Longing for independence, the couple envisions a brighter future away from their family home. However, the course of their lives drastically changes when Abdelkader becomes caught in a violent altercation at work. As their dreams begin to unravel, the couple must confront the harsh realities of love and survival in a world filled with despair. Volubilis beautifully juxtaposes romance with the starkness of their circumstances.
