Plot
Sheik Yousseff cleverly masquerades as an ally to the French while secretly scheming to oust them. Opposing him is Paul Bonnard, a desert-studying professor who leads the Riffs as the enigmatic Red Shadow, disrupting Yousseff’s supply lines to sustain his people. General Birabeau arrives with his daughter, Margot, whom he hires Bonnard to tutor. Margot finds herself drawn to Captain Claud Fontaine. As tensions rise, an American journalist, Benji Kidd, uncovers a secret entrance to Yousseff's palace, aided by Azuri, a dancer enamored with Bonnard.
