Plot
After losing the house surgeon position to Dr. Bingham (Michael Medwin) due to a board member's slight, young Dr. Simon Sparrow (Dirk Bogarde) finds himself bouncing from one temporary role to another. During his stint at a remote country hospital, he encounters a patient whose husband passed away after Simon treated him years earlier. Later, at another facility, Simon assesses a surprisingly wise teenage patient while also attempting to win the affection of the dedicated nurse, Nan McPherson (Shirley Eaton).
