Plot
Set against the backdrop of World War I, Dr. Stefano Zorzi operates within the confines of an Exemption Clinic in Northern Italy, treating soldiers traumatized by battle. While he strives to heal and return them to the front lines, his former friend, Dr. Giulio Farradio, sabotages their recovery to secure their discharge. Competing professionally and romantically over the affections of the determined nurse Anna, their rivalry intensifies. As the devastating Spanish flu pandemic strikes in 1918, the lines between love, duty, and survival blur, leading to unforeseen consequences for all involved.
