Plot

After casting a secret vote against the Mafia, Sicilian worker Mimi loses everything, forcing him to abandon his wife and escape to Turin. There, he becomes involved with a Communist activist, but the Mafia continues to haunt him. Lured back to Sicily with the promise of a better job, Mimi finds himself in a precarious situation, needing to hide his new love and their child. Just as things seem to be settling, his wife reveals that she is expecting another baby.
