"Underground" offers a compelling look at the radical Weathermen, a militant offshoot of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), who aimed to dismantle the U.S. government during the tumultuous 1960s and 1970s. Through candid interviews with former members and captivating archival footage of anti-war and civil rights demonstrations, the documentary explores the group's motivations and actions. Directed by Emile de Antonio, Haskell Wexler, and Mary Lampson, the film drew the attention of the FBI, which sought to seize it to extract information that could aid in apprehending the Weathermen.
