Root of All Evil? (2006)
Plot
In this two-part series on Channel 4, Professor Richard Dawkins confronts what he terms 'a mindset of non-reason known as faith.' He expresses his disbelief that, as the 21st century unfolds, religious belief is on the rise despite the availability of rational, scientific evidence. Science thrives on inquiry, skepticism, and validation, constantly revisiting its own assertions. In contrast, faith remains unwavering and unverified, standing in stark opposition to scientific principles. Dawkins argues that while religions advocate for morality and peace, they often foster intolerance, violence, and chaos. The surge of extreme fundamentalism poses a threat to humanity, contradicting the historical trend towards greater enlightenment and tolerance.
