Plot

In 1951, Elizabeth Bishop, a reserved poet from New York, journeys to Rio de Janeiro to reconnect with her college friend Mary. Immersed in the vibrant Brazilian culture, Elizabeth finds herself contrasting sharply with Mary’s charismatic partner, architect Lota de Macedo Soares. As tension simmers, Mary’s jealousy grows, but the bold Lota is determined to keep both women in her life.
