Plot
At the close of the 1950s in the small village of Africo, located in the southern Aspromonte valley, a woman tragically dies during childbirth due to a doctor’s delay. With no road connecting Africo to surrounding areas, the villagers, young and old, come together to construct their own path. Giulia, a new schoolteacher from the North, arrives with the goal of teaching standard Italian to foster cultural unity between Africo and the rest of Italy. However, she must face the local mobster Don Totó, who aims to keep the village isolated and under his control.
