The Lone Ume Tree (2021)

Plot

Amidst a backdrop of modern developments, an aging house clings to its past, home to Tamako, a well-known fortune teller, and her son Tadao, who has autism and intellectual disabilities. Their isolated life draws the ire of neighbors disturbed by Tadao's unpredictable behavior. When Tamako learns of an opening in a nearby group home designed for individuals with similar challenges, she sees an opportunity for Tadao to gain independence. However, the transition proves difficult for him, leaving Tamako to navigate the complexities of their new reality.
