Plot
On a foggy night, Soetsu, a blind acupuncturist and moneylender, seeks out Shinzaemon Fukami, a Hatamoto samurai, to collect a debt. However, Fukami is preoccupied with an affair with a maid and dismissively instructs Soetsu to get the money from his wife, Sawano. Misunderstanding his intent, Sawano believes she must offer herself to Soetsu instead. When Fukami discovers them, he kills them both in a fit of rage. After seizing Soetsu's bag containing 30 ryo, he enlists two thugs to dispose of the bodies in a marsh. Soon after, Fukami meets a grim fate, and Osono, Soetsu's younger daughter, mysteriously vanishes.
