In 2007, the ambitious young explorer Evrard Wendenbaum dreamed of assembling an international research team to traverse the rugged terrain of Makay, a largely uncharted area in Southeast Madagascar. Canal + took an interest in his venture and produced a 90-minute 3D documentary about it. Directed by Pierre Stine, the shoot involved four stereographers from Binocle in Paris, who tackled two months of grueling conditions marked by 90% humidity, extreme heat surpassing that of Death Valley, heavy rainfall, snake bites, and a host of other adventurous challenges.
